Inspiration Behind the Music

What motivates you? Why do you do the things you do? Whether we realize it or not, we all hope for something. We desire to make good first impressions on other People because we hope that they will like us. We work hard to make a living because we hope that the money we will earn will maintain or improve our standard of living. We even have hopes that extend beyond our lifetime. Isn’t the hope of a better world the reason why many people are working so hard to make this world a better place for their children After they are gone?

A friend said to me once that the best way to free ourselves from disappointment is to never allow ourselves to hope for anything. According to him, we need to just accept life as it is and never have any expectations. Is that even possible? It may sound good on the surface, but since living without hope does not come naturally to us, we would have to practice the art of eliminating all expectation from our lives in hopes that some day we will Be able to place ourselves beyond the reach of disappointment. So we see that even the effort to rid ourselves of hope is also motivated by hope. Ironic isn’t it?

Since we cannot rid ourselves of hope and the disappointment that follows when Our expectations are not fulfilled, we should conclude that even though hope can and does lead to disappointment, it is not the main reason why disappointment exists. Disappointment exists, because we tend to rest our hopes upon faulty foundations. This is very easy to do when you don’t know the future And no one knows the future. So then, what can we do? Is there a kind of hope that Can reduce or eliminate Disappointment?

The answer is yes. God’s word is filled with promises that cannot fail. We know because he says that he will tell us things before they happen, so that when they do happen, we will believe. (John 14:29) What does God want us to believe? He wants us to trust him that a better day is coming. It is easy to say that a better day is coming, but what is the evidence? Does God give us a foundation to rest our hope of a better day on? With all the instability in our world, we cannot afford to place our hope in empty promises. The good news is that there is evidence to rest our faith upon. It is found in the book of Daniel.

The book of Daniel tells of four world empires the first being the kingdom of Babylon, Followed by the kingdom of the Meads and Persians, Then the kingdom of Greece and the fourth being Rome. Then God through the prophet Daniel tells us that the fourth kingdom would be divided in to ten parts. These Visions were given to Daniel by God, in the 5th century BC, hundreds of years before the empires of Greece or Rome were even thought of. Then God tells Daniel that the kingdoms of divided Rome would try to unite, but no matter how hard they try, they would not succeed. The last person to try to unite the kingdoms of Europe was Hitler. Imagine how many lives would have been spared if Hitler, Napoleon and all the other rulers who made the futile attempt to unite Europe had taken the time to read and believe this prophecy. So we can see how history proves that God’s word is true.

But what does this brief history lesson have to do with hope? Here is the rest of the story. God tells Daniel that in the days of those kings, He will set up his kingdom and all the kingdoms of the world will be swept away. (Daniel 2:34-45) Right now we are living in what God calls “the days of those kings”. We don’t know when his kingdom is coming, but since every prediction God made has come to pass, we can be very certain that everything he says about his coming kingdom is true.

Every expectation we have that doesn’t keep God’s coming kingdom in view, will be disappointed. We can rest all of our wait upon the promises of God. Knowing God through his son Jesus gives us a taste of his coming kingdom. This is why Jesus said that the kingdom of God is Within you. (Luke 17:21) This hope of God’s kingdom is called the blessed hope (Titus 2:12) and We will not be disappointed. (Romans 5:5) As this song says, “I am looking for the blessed hope.” “Are you looking for the blessed hope?”

1 thought on “Blessed Hope

  1. Thank you brother,

I love to live with the blessed assurance with boldness, hope is not completely sure as a guarantee

Eph 1:13  In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
Eph 1:14  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

I believe the Holy Spirit is eternal and dwelling in us not temporary, I never want to say good bye to you my brother, Jesus has guaranteed that with His blood and His resurrection

    God bless
