I don’t remember the year exactly, perhaps it was a little less than ten years ago that I had an
idea to do a album of piano hymns and call it Simply Hymn Volume 3. Then I sat on the idea for
a while, but about 2016 was when I began recording these songs. After the recordings were
done, I sat on it some more, wondering if the album was good enough to release. Since I don’t
really consider myself to be a pianist, I wondered whether my piano arrangements and
performance of these hymns would be as impacting as my first two albums of hymns. Then not
too long ago, I had a listen to it and was really blessed by what I heard so I thought that I
should share my blessing with you.
Ever since the pandemic, I have found myself leaning more and more towards music that is
quiet and reflective. This may be the reason why my response was different after coming back
to these piano arrangements. This is definitely the kind of album that you want to listen to while
quietly reflecting on God’s goodness or while you’re reading the Bible or even while you’re
waiting to fall asleep. There are some happy songs, but most of them are for the purpose of
meditation and prayer.
Most of these songs will be familiar to you, but there may be a few that you may not recognize.
Feel free to sing along to the ones that you do know and then have a look in your hymn book at
the ones that you may not know. Let Jesus Christ be Praised as you Sing of your
Redeemer. I pray that while you listen and while you worship that the Spirit of the Living God
will fall afresh on you.
As you enjoy your Sweet Hour of Prayer, may the reality of his Marvelous Grace become
more real to you and as you realize your utter helplessness without him, may your prayer be
“Father I Stretch My Hands to Thee.” May his peace guard your heart and mind and guide
you to a place that is Far From All Care. May Beams of Heaven illuminate your mind as you
gain a greater understanding of his love, his word and his will for your life.
What a Fellowship the Godhead and the angels of Heaven have with those who open their
hearts to receive the light of truth in this way. As you hear his voice calling out to you Softly
and Tenderly, may your response be I am coming Lord Just as I Am. May you always be
aware of his presence in your life and wherever you go, Take the Name of Jesus With You.
