Inspiration Behind the Music
When I was in my early twenties, I would travel to LA often. It became very obvious that many there had similar aspirations to mine. It seemed to me that everyone in LA wanted to be a star. It did not matter that the chances were slim to none. We were all there to give it our best shot. I would not be surprised if many of the people who I met there during that time of my life are still there, giving it their best shot. Unfortunately for most of us, our best was just not good enough. Even when someone arrives at stardom, they are constantly faced with the challenge of maintaining their status and many fail to do it.
Not too long ago, I read a Bible verse which opened my eyes to something I don’t think I had ever seen before. You may not have known this, but God has promised stardom to all believers. Not the stardom that those who go to Hollywood for, but a stardom that is much greater. When the stardom that God wants for every believer is achieved, his power is able to sustain it, so there is no trying and failing to keep it. It is the kind of stardom that keeps God’s attention, but not only God is watching. We are on display to the whole universe. Here is the verse I read.
“Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”
Daniel 12:3 NKJV
The light in our stars are given to us by our Heavenly Father and he desires that we let our light shine for all to see. (Matthew 5:14) So we see that godly stardom is not self centered. It is service centered and radiates from every believer to the glory of God.
Those seeking worldly stardom compete fiercely for the attention that it brings, even to the point of compromising their values. On the other hand, those who have Heavenly stardom turn many to righteousness resulting in many more stars being created. There is more than enough of God’s glory to rest on every believer who accepts his invitation to join his family. Right now, some stars shine brighter than others, but a day is coming when our Heavenly Father will say, “Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.”
Isaiah 60:1 NKJV
Then our world will be radiant with the light of God’s glory emanating from those who have chosen to be his stars. Through pain, sorrow, ridicule and severe persecution their lights will shine even brighter.
It is God’s plan that this dark world be illuminated by the brightness of his light shining in the lives of his people. If we submit to him fully, we will have the privilege of preparing the world to receive Him when He comes. Now, the stars of God go unnoticed by almost everyone, but when the Savior of the world comes to claim His stars they will have met their greatest admirer and He will rejoice over them with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17) This is the kind of stardom I want, how about you?
